Water, water Everywhere

And nor any drop to drink, so the Rime goes.

Climate change is bringing the UK hot, dry summers on a regular basis. Inevitably drought and water usage restrictions follow. So why not build solar-powered micro desalination plants around our lengthy coastline to help with the summer water shortages, especially in the South. Cornwall is looking at 2 potential sites to ease their problems. It is estimated that a third of the UK supply could be from the sea, but there is worry whether it would harm the fish!

If this initiative is adopted, waste could even be used as the power source to provide a 24/7 year-round supply. My emails on mitigating climate change have long suggested that along desert seaboards the rich countries should build desalination plants, for the locals to operate, so that the hinterland can be irrigated to produce food and even grow carbon capturing trees.
